Collections of whippets

I have quite a collection of whippets, no surprise as I have owned whippets for over 20 years.

My collection includes antique jewelry as well as ceramic and other figurines.

Why do I collect them you might ask? Why does anyone collect anything? Is it

1.       To clutter up the house?

2.       To have things of beauty around to bring joy

3.       Because of a passion for what it is, and as a substitute for owning the real thing

I think in my case it is 3. I love whippets. They are the most delicate looking of dogs, yet they can be such characters, strong, and fragile at the same time. I could happily have 10 whippets, yet that would not be practical, or fair on the whippets, or on me, as they do need a fair amount of attention.

My second whippet started my collection of whippet antiques, jewelry and art. When he died at age 16, I needed to have something to help me think positive thoughts about him. I had pictures of him, after all I am an artist, and I had lots of photos, but this, well this just was something I had never seen before. And was at the time the most I had ever paid for something or me.

I saw it in the window of an antique shop. I just kept walking up to the window and stopping and really had no idea of it rarity or value, I just knew I wanted it.

The collection of art, of many types, is a passion for many. For me, it is dog related, and that is why I have created Petartisans. I want you to have access to artist of all kind, from all over the worked, who work in all medium s with the subject or theme being dogs and cats.
