Is that a greyhound or a whippet?

 

I get asked all the time, is that a greyhound or a whippet?

 

Two wonderful dogs and they are very similar in many ways.

The obvious is- they are both hounds.

The greyhound generally is larger and taller than the whippet

The curve of the back is generally noticeable in a whippet

A whippet can run faster in the short run but the greyhound will outrun in the long run.

My whippet is quite tall and only very slightly over the standard for a whippet by those that make the rules. For me, he is perfect.

Yet because he is just that tiny bit taller, many do think he is a greyhound, until of course they see a greyhound and a whippet together.

And there is no question then.

as you can see, the taller one is the greyhound, and next is a quite tall whippet, and the little one is the Italian greyhound. (no he does not bark in Italian, but he might like spaghetti  and definitely gelato

This one is my boy, taken 4 years ago age 4. He is a whippet

I wish they could meet, it would be love at first sight.
