How much is that doggie in the window-

just look how cute, but please remember.

Yes, who does not know that song!!

Ok, maybe there area some, but my generation and prior know it.

How many children have asked for a puppy for Christmas? Countless no doubt!

Yet, puppies as cute as they are, do grow up, and they are not like toys you can easily take back after Christmas when your child is bored with it.

Please if you are going to get a puppy for your child, please please be sure you know what you are getting.

A puppy can be a wonderful present, I don’t want to discourage, if you know what you are in for. But please don’t get one if you don’t.

Who will walk it- you will.

Feed it- you will.

It will repay you with unconditional love. Please be sure you can reciprocate.

There are many puppies in shelters looking for homes.

That puppy in the window of the pet shop, well, I don’t want the puppy to have to spend Christmas, or in fact any day there, as I wish pets would not be sold in pet stores at all, yet they are, and so if you can give him a home then please do, but remember, there are so many other that need you too.

Next time, think of a shelter dog.

How Much is that doggy in the window is a novelty song written by Bob Merrill. Patty Page sang it way back then too. (So I am told). A cute song.

But don’t get a puppy just so you can sing it.

If you are looking for a puppy, a dog, and or a kitten, cat, your local shelter is a good place to go.

There are also many adoption groups, and Pet Finder is one that lists many dogs from rescue groups.

I just heard about dozens of puppies from Northern BC that are now in the Victoria Humane Society (BC) and will be looking for homes in January.
