Continuing on our trip in Oregon- Dogeron

Our next stop was Cottage Grove Oregon, and the Village Inn.

We had reserved this via Travel Zoo; neither of us had been before. We had asked for a dog friendly room.

Our room was very spacious and had a separate area we could have put the dogs in the kennels if we wanted to. Mostly they came everywhere with us. At the pool tied up by my chair in the shade, my dog sat and watched me swim. No, he was not allowed to swim in the pool.

For our lunch and our dinner we had the entire restaurant/lounge patio area to ourselves, and our dogs. The food and service were great and our dogs were a big hit.

There are plenty of places to walk around the grounds with dogs as well, making Village Green a very dog friendly place indeed.

The Village green is a Moonstone hotel.

It looks like five out of six are dog friendly.

Our next stop was Florence, on the coast. What an interesting place for sure. -And so many dogs, and dog friendly places. We found that we could take our dogs in all the shops, and in many restaurants. We could not resist the one we chose, as it had a huge welcoming sign indicating it was a doggy friendly place. It is the International C Food market, right on the water.  (Also called ICM).

We sat on the deck, and while we were there I noticed at least 5 other dogs. Our neighbour had a dog who was incredibly cute (the dog that is) and had his paws up on the bench looking out over the water. (Again- also the dog)

We then drove up the coast stopping along the way, every place friendly. We reached our next stop-over destination just south of Seaside Oregon.

Our next dog dining experience was on the patio of the U street bar, a very friendly pub in Seaside.

We spent some time visiting shops in Cannon Beach and in Seaside and we found almost all of them allowed us to bring the dogs.

Of course we visited every pet supply and pet boutique we could find.

Here are just a few.

In seaside Oregon- Beach Puppy Dog Boutique

In Cannon Beach

and

Dogs Allowed- (I love the name of this one).

We found this one by way of a wine store. I had gone in to look and noticed they were selling a special bottle of wine to raise money for dog charity – Clatsop County Animal Shelter. It was a partnership with Dog allowed. I bought bottle (still have it) and then walked over to the shop.

And in Manzanita- I love Manzanita. Here we found the wonderful shop called - Four paws on the beach.

In this shop, along with the wonderful staff, I saw the owners, and the dog who really owned it. And they told me there are two of them. This is a beautiful very large black dog, a Newfoundland.  He must be very hot. Check out their blog and see the pictures of them.

Maybe they should call it 8 paws on the beach.

I found more listed at:

Thanks to a landmark Oregon law all over 300 miles of beach and coast is open to the public, and as far as we could see, that means dogs too. Leash laws were applicable in some places, for the dogs that is.

We found some lovely places where my dog could run free, -like the wind- as that is as fast has he runs.

One thing I did notice also on the beach, was the wind and the sand- hence the famous sand dunes. They are wonderful to hide in, play in, or just to see. How they got there though was from wind blowing the sand of course . I never really thought about goggles for a dog before, yet I wish I had bought some then. Imagine, sun glasses for a dog I thought, ok!!. Yet on this very windy day in our favourite place Manzanita, I should have bought then.

The ones I saw are called Doggles.

Here is their on line shop  http://shop.doggles.com/dog/eyewear

On our way back home we stopped first in Gearhart in a very nice bakery. We had a table outside and out dogs were happy to sit with is and share a bit of our bakery treat.

This was the pacific way Bakery and Cafe.

Next, just before leaving Oregon we stopped in Astoria. Again we found this to be a very dog friendly place, except for one experience I will share in another story.

Since coming back home I have researched more and found this

http://thebark.com/content/about-us

it was in here I read about

http://thebark.com/content/dog-friendly-travel-along-oregon-coas

a place I would like to  go to another time with my dog. It is the  Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria. It sounds like dogs are really catered to there.

Our trip to Oregon with our dogs was a great vacation for them, and pretty good for us too.

To get back home we drove through Washington, also seeming to be very dog friendly.

Our final step was to take the Black Ball Coho ferry, and we could take our dogs with us up on the deck. Very happy dogs!!
