The Pharmasave Border collie visitor

Often on my dog walk, I walk by the local Pharmacy. The friendly staff is always happy to say hello to my dog Smyth. One lady that I have got to know quite well over the visits, always looks forward to seeing my dog (and me I think).

Well, the other day as I was approaching I saw two of the staff and they were petting a dog. Then they were not, o where did it go. I thought it was just getting a friendly pet but it took off into the store and by the time I got there only seconds later it had been in and out and circled the entire store. The pharmacy is attached to a medical clinic and the dog even went right in there and out again.

When I got there I of course inquired. I though perhaps they were playing a game, or maybe they were doing a commercial to advertise that they also fill prescriptions for dog medicines. ( I do think that may be something that they could advertise more as I think not many know that you can fill your pet prescription there ( and save money). if you need to fill a pet prescription you can go to any pharmasave. check it out here at Pharmasave pet prescription

No, the dog was not a star for a commercial, nor was it a staff dog, nor a new best friend for the lady I visit, to take over for my dog. The staff did not know who it was and where it came from. They had given it a name, and I thought they knew it as it seemed to be responding to the name.

I helped corral the speed demon dog.  This dog would be a good playmate for mine as it also loves to run fast. The dog, a lovely young Border collie was very fit and very fast. We were able to corner the dog. She was fast but once I caught hold of her collar she rolled over for me and she was so friendly.

I held on to her collar while one of the staff got something we could use as a leach.

We were all admiring the dog and determining the next thing to do. Should we wait there with it as surely the owner cannot be far, this was a well cared for dog, and it belonged to someone it was not a stray.  That seemed to make sense as first step. None of us wanted to call the authorities.

A few minutes later after thinking about putting an announcement up and me holding on to the dog, a lady came forward. It was her dog. Yes, the dog did seem to respond to her, and did seem to be her dog. She told us she had been in the doctor’s office for an appointment and had left the dog waiting for her in the car, and she( the dog that is) , according to the owner- like she had done before ( again that would be the dog), jumped out car the window.

Well, what an acrobat. I was happy for the dog though that she had jumped out as not only was it warm at 11 AM late in May, but the dog was also black. As you know of course, black dogs feel the heat more-(well I think that they do- it makes sense. You know how you feel on a hot day when you wear black, as opposed to a lighter colour.

The dog and her owner got in the car and drove away (the owner drove not the dog) and I thought to myself, this was a narrow escape.

We were all very happy that the dog was now safe; we sincerely hope that the dog is never left alone in the car again.

Please, don’t leave your dog in the car, with the window open or not, if it is warm out. And if you think your dog will escape from somewhere please take precaution so it does not.

Anyway, it was very entertaining while we were chasing and catching the dog. What a lovely dog she was.

In case you don’t know, the Border collie is one of the most intelligent dog breeds. And they are fast. But could she outrun my whippet? I don’t think so.
